My year with Pets by Pencil

2016 was a pretty big year for Pets by Pencil.

Starting as a fundraiser in April to go towards funding my U23 rowing campaign in Rotterdam, Pets by Pencil has grown so much since the beginning doodles.

I had the amazing opportunity to be a part of the Art of Rowing exhibition held by my personal rowing sponsors Laszlo Boats NZ. This exhibition showcased the hidden talents of myself and three other awesome rowing athletes from the Waikato region.

Through my university studies this year I was also able to combine my love of art and animals with my university degree. My Zoology paper allowed my to complete a project including 20 detailed drawings of native New Zealand birds as well as learn about their flight and flightless evolution.

I am very grateful to my peers in this class that voted my project the best drawing project submitted.

Rotterdam proved to be both challenging and rewarding. To come away with a silver medal representing NZ was extremely exciting and humbling. I would like to thank everyone that supported my campaign by buying my drawings!

Next on the list for Pets by Pencil was my first ever market stall at the annual Cambridge Pooch Racing event. This was extremely successful with lots of interested people, a beautiful sunny day and my Dalmatian Molly winning us some prizes. We will have to look past the Boxer that peed on the Gazebo leg and the painful sunburn.

Xmas was the last and final push for 2016 with my very first published add in the Cambridge News and on facebook which resulted in six A4 orders for xmas!

I am extremely proud of my accomplishments for this year and how I have developed my skills as an artist, as well as, as a 'businesswoman'. I can now say that through Pets by Pencil I have completed 24 custom drawings!

Thanks again to everyone who supported me and I am extremely excited to see what new challenges 2017 has to throw at me.

Until my next post,

Jackie.
