The Native New Zealand Bird Collection

This year I decided to spend little less time holidaying overseas after U23 World Champs and put more of an emphasis on smashing out some key uni papers towards my BSc, Animal Behaviour major. One of these papers is Advanced Zoology and this paper has a large project assignment in which we got to choose what it was about and how it would be presented. You wont be surprised to find that I chose to do drawings.
My project consisted of 20 drawings and a 5000 word report on the structural adaptations of flightless and flight-abled, large New Zealand birds. I am extremely happy with the quality of some of these drawings and, stressful as it was, I'm incredibly proud of what I was able to put forward. So much so that handing over my portfolio folder at the assignment drop at uni proved extremely hard and I didn't want to part with them!
So I thought I'd share them.
The following 20 drawings are of a mixture of live birds, skeleton, skin and display models. Some are entire and some are just parts. I focused mainly on the wing and foot structures, as well as the advantages of being large. I hope you enjoy them and that the time and effort poured into these drawings comes through in the pictures.
