About me...
ROWING:
I started rowing in 2008 with Wellington Girls' College and continued through until my last
year of school where I won a Gold medal at Maadi Cup in the U18 double.
From here I completed two U21 campaigns against Australia in 2012 and 2013.
During this, I was selected for the Central Regional Performance Centre based in Blenheim.
I then went on to be selected as the NZ U23 Lightweight Women's Single to compete at the U23 World Championships in Varese, Italy 2014 where I came 4th.
In 2015 I was reselected for the NZ U23 team in the Lightweight Women's Double to compete in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. I was also taken to compete at the two World Cups in Varese, Italy and Lucerne, Switzerland where I placed 4th in both
In Bulgaria, my doubles partner and I won Gold in the Lightweight Double and broke the World Best Time by five seconds.
In 2016 I was an Olympic team trialist and was re-selected as part of the NZ U23 team again in the Lightweight Women's Double with a new partner to compete in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where we got Silver.
For 2017, I have been selected in the elite NZ Lightweight Women's Double. In June, due to an injury, I competed in the Lightweight single at World Cup II in Poland, where I won Gold. After this, Zoe went on to win Gold in the lightweight double at World Cup III in Lucerne.
At the World Championships in Sarasota, Florida, 2017, we took home the silver medal.
ANIMALS:
I have always had a love for animals. My extended family own a dairy farm and I have been exposed to pets and farm animals since I was very little. I have had experience relief milking and also horse trek riding and loved every minute of it.
I am studying a Bachelor of Science with a major in Animal Behaviour in the hope that I can take my love for animals further in my life after rowing.
I also have a Dalmatian, Molly, who helps me with my studies and gives me something to look forward to that isn't rowing related when I get home from training.
ART:
Art is another love I have had from a young age. I have always had a creative mind and have expressed it on paper in different ways for years. My drawing is something I have developed over the last few years as it's something I can enjoy without having any impact on my rowing. I have found drawing directly from photos and pictures the most rewarding, and I like the challenge of transferring the characteristics of distinct animals from the photos to paper in each sketch.
